Welcome & Thank You for booking with me.

Being able to support someone’s journey towards positive mental health is a fulfilling job which is why I decided to pursue my career as a counsellor. I greatly enjoy having the opportunity to make a real difference in some one’s life. Thank you for booking your appointment with me. Please read through the following contract which we will discuss further when we meet.

Counselling Contract

During therapy, we will work together, using a variety of techniques in order to reach the desired outcome for you. Sessions are 50-60 minutes in duration and I recommend that you attend weekly to get the full benefit of counselling and we will do regular reviews of your progress. I also offer online counselling if you prefer to avail of this.

Confidentiality

Everything you discuss with me will be treated as highly confidential. However, there are some limits to confidentiality which you need to be aware of. As I am a mandated person, I am legally required to notify Tusla of any disclosures of sexual abuse, child protection issues or if I consider your welfare or the welfare of others to be at risk. Please be assured that I will discuss this with you before any reporting happens.

Cancellations

My cancellation policy requires that you cancel 24 hours before the time of your appointment as I can fill that appointment with someone else. Should you cancel within the 24 hour window or not turn up for your appointment I will invoice for 50% of my fee. Similarly if I have to cancel your appointment within the 24 hour period I only charge you 50% of my fee on your next appointment.

Payment

For face to face counselling payment is to be made at the end of every session. Please note I cannot accommodate missed payments or carry over of payment to the next session. Payment for online counselling is by bank transfer or paypal and is required prior to your session.

Legal Reporting

I do not offer any report writing or recommendations as part of my service. Should you wish to ascertain whether you meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis, this would be undertaken via your GP or within other healthcare services. However I do issue letters of attendance for court.

Data Storage & Privacy

The storage of your data is of the utmost importance to me. Please read my privacy statement HERE

Online Counselling

Life getting in the way but you really don't want to miss your session? I offer online counselling so you dont miss out. I request that you do not attend under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs for video sessions.  Online counselling is not advisable if you are feeling suicidal or have suicidal thoughts, face to face counselling would be more beneficial to you in this case. If an emergency arises that needs immediate attention we will contact your GP, emergency services or emergency contact person.

Book your appointment at a time where you will not be disturbed and also ensure that you are in a confidential space without interruption from anyone.

If there are technical difficulties communication should be made to confirm this by text message or phone call. If it is not convenient for either party to continue with the delayed session an alternative date and time will be agreed. If the session is interrupted due to technical difficulties then the remaining time will be made up at the end of the session, if possible.

I make every effort to keep all information confidential. My computer is password protected and is not used by anyone else. All my client notes are stored online and each file is password protected. Likewise to protect your confidentially I encourage you to ensure you determine who has access to your computer, only communicate through a computer you know is safe and exit all applications once session is over.

Also in the interest of confidentiality for both of us, I require that the confidentiality of our appointments are maintained and that they are not recorded. I also agree to the same.

I am are registered and fully accredited with the accrediting body Addiction Counsellors of Ireland and are bound by their code of ethics. A copy my accreditation certificate is available upon request. I may need to discuss my therapeutic work with my supervisor, which is a requirement of ACI but I do not disclose the identity of any client during supervision.

Covid-19

If diagnosed with a confirmed or suspected case or if you have been in close contact with a person who is a confirmed or suspected case please make contact to reschedule your session. If you have been advised by a doctor to self-isolate or cocoon, online counselling is recommended. I also recommend that you sanitise your hands when arriving and leaving the premises and practice good sneezing and coughing etiquette as per the HES guidelines. Client identification number will be used for record keeping in case that contact tracing will be required but the nature of our relationship will not be disclosed.

Ending of Therapy.

Generally, you will know when you are ready to finish therapy and together, we will prepare for this in a planned and supportive way. You may find therapy challenging at the start and feel the desire to end. I would ask you to bring this to your therapy to explore it further rather than suddenly ending.

Testimonials

Eileen is a qualified addiction counsellor and recovery coach. She is a straight talking professional with a deep and sincere empathy with the patient that is suffering from the disease of addiction, the family members who have loved ones in addiction, colleagues , friends and all concerned persons. She is experienced counsellor and employs the most up to date techniques in helping all stakeholders to get to the root cause of the issues associated with addictions , including the physical, mental, behavioural consequences always providing a clear pathway of options and choices to all who are looking for sustainable solutions. I have referred many people to Eileen over the years and she has a very inexpensive care plan that will provide each individual with the space and time needed to look at what is going wrong in ones life and more importantly with the necessary life coping mechanisms to implement a customised and individualised recovery plan. I commend Eileen for the work she carries out with understanding, a great sense of clarity and with the client very much at the centre of her focus.

Paddy CreedonRecovery Advocate

On a doctors recommendation, I booked a session with Eileen. I was very skeptical as I had been to counselling before with mixed results. Eileen was very professional and friendly and saw me just days after I contacted her. She gave me some good insights and tools to help me address the problems that I was facing. I would highly recommend Eileen.

Client/ Female

Eileen is a wonderful professional. She is warm and approachable, and as a fellow counsellor, I am so grateful to have her to refer clients to who need her specialist input. Addictions affect families as well as the individual, and Eileen offers a great service and support through her work.
