How do I know that I need counselling?
There are many reasons why a person considers attending counselling. They may be in crisis or need clarity on a particular issue. Perhaps self-destructive patterns of behaviour or thinking no longer work and need to be changed or focused on. A friend or family member may suggest that you start therapy.
How many sessions might I attend for?
This depends on the type of therapy work or concerns the client wishes to explore and varies from person to person. I offer an initial contract of 6 sessions per client, and then we review to determine if you want or need to continue for further sessions. Each session lasts 50-60 minutes and I encourage clients to attend weekly at the start. Depending on the person and the concerns, the period of therapy can last from weeks or months to years.
What if I feel this counselling service is not for me?
The initial session is to discover if we can work together. If you are unsure, you can think about it and ring again.
Will my counselling be confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is guaranteed and is at the heart of my practice. However, there are certain circumstances which supersede the confidentially contract i.e. you are a danger to yourself or others, suicidal or if a child is at risk. Then as a therapist, I am legally obliged to contact the relevant authorities. All of this will be discussed with your in the initial session.
How can I pay?
Payment for a one to one session is by cash or in advance via PayPal, Stripe or bank transfer. For online counselling payment is made using PayPalor bank transfer and is made prior to the session.
What do you charge?
I charge €60 per session.
What is your cancellation policy?
My cancellation policy is 24 hours in advance of the appointment, otherwise a cancellation fee is charged.
